1 Year Mark in LA

Posted on September 1, 2011 at 8:40 PM

Los Angeles... what a town. Its been a year since I've been here... and 100 gigs later, I've finally realized why I moved here. It's a hustle. It's a way of life. And I'm so down with it. Here is an update on what I've been doing lately...

Last night, I got to perform with one of the most talented young people I know out here... George Watsky. His famous video "Pale Kid Raps Fast" became a viral sensation on YouTube. I put together some musicians for his backing band on a pilot television presentation at The Comedy Central Stage at The Hudson, and they show was nothing short of incredible. Keep on the lookout for this guy, because chances are, you will hear about him!

There are two bands I'm playing in that have CD's being released very soon! Layla Lane has their CD release show at The Mint this coming Saturday night. I got to do a quick trip up to San Francisco and back with them last weekend for a festival date... they are fantastic musicians, songwriters, and performers.

Also releasing a new album is the rock n roll sensation Ground Zero. It's been an amazing experience releasing a fully independent, do-it-yourself album. Finally, we are coming down the home stretch with this self-titled 6-song EP which is currently being mastered at Studio City Sound. GZ openend for Steel Panther at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip last week... what a night that was!

You can also check out this in-studio video that I played drums on with singer-songwriter Amy Kuney...

Keep an eye out on my Gigs page... September is already filling up! I'm also teaching drum lessons in the Northridge/Van Nuys area.

Until next time.  -Cameron
